F.A.Q's
Where did you learn to paint?
I confess that I am a child prodigy. I've always been able to draw and paint.
How long have you been painting?
Ever since I was nine years old. Long enough to remember when our dollar was a dollar. Before that, I used pencils. That was all that was available.
What galleries have you shown in?
Picture This framing and gallery is the only one that is currently in business. Other than that, I've conducted my own successful shows.
Are you a member of an art association?
No. I have found that associations of various sorts seem to involve more voting and newsletters than doing what the title seems to imply. All that time and money could go towards manifesting my mission statement. That's merely my perspective and not necessarily what someone else may experience.
Do you ship your paintings?
Yes of course. The crate is built to protect the masterpiece. The customer needs to let me know of a reliable courier and insure it for the proper amount.
Do you teach classes?
No. I am delighted to share my perspective if someone is interested. I didn't learn much from classes other than many people are scared they are asking a dumb question. Which is very sad. A good teacher merely shows someone what they were already capable of doing. Regardless of what level the student wants to reach.
Have you done any seascapes?
Oh, yes. I love doing seascapes.
What medium do you work in?
Acrylic paints, watercolor paints, pencil, and ink. I've done some sculpting and some charcoal.
How do you get such detail on your watercolors?
It's an excruciatingly lengthy process. Much like how the caramel gets into the Cadbury bar.
Where will you be showing your art work?
The Calgary Stampede, Picture This, and this website are just a few venues.
Where do you get your ideas from?
Everywhere I look.
Is it okay to hang these paintings near a window?
No. Even though I have used the finest of paints and UV varnishes, it would be foolish to ruin a work of art by hanging it near a window. Let your plants enjoy the sun instead.
Do I need to control the humidity?
Most normal household and office atmospheres have a suitable level of humidity for the framework as well as the images on paper or canvas. Excessive dryness or humidity will be noticed by your skin before it adversely affects the framework that I have carefully chosen for each original. If you have any problems, just contact me and I will advise you on what could be possible solutions.
Why would I want to purchase an original when your prints are so much cheaper?
For the same kind of reasons why some of us go to the opera and some of us buy the c.d., or watch a real event versus watching it on television. Sure one is more expensive than the other.
How can I be assured that your art is a worthwhile investment?
How can anyone be assured of any investment? I do my best to create what I see as beautiful. Just like I keep going back to the same beautiful stretch of beach on the Pacific Coast. It just keeps feeling right to do it.
Can I be notified of new releases?
Yes of course. Just send me your address, phone, or e-mail.
Do you ever have sales?
Yes I do. Just keep checking my website once a month. There are some fantastic sales there.
Do you offer discounts to frequent collectors?
Yes I do and I have. The key word is frequent.
